• Pesquié

One of my all-time favourite producers in France – a phenomenal bargain

Robert Parker Jnr,
The Wine Advocate

At the foot of Mont Ventoux, in the southeastern Rhône Valley, Château Pesquié is a family wine estate at the heart of the Ventoux appellation. Three generations of the Chaudière family have put all their passion into producing wines with the characteristic freshness and finesse of this exceptional terroir.

Our Director first came across the wines of Château Pesquié some years ago during a visit to Hôtel Crillon de Brave in Provence and was immediately taken by their quality and depth. Their reputation continues to grow with many notable critics singing the praises of their exceptional, yet affordable range. Decanter’s Rhône Correspondent Matt Walls recently highlighted the wines of Ventoux, describing them as ‘Dynamic’ and recommended Château Pesquié as a great entry point.

Today Château Pesquié is one of the flagship wineries of the appellation and the southern Rhône Valley, and the latest generation definitely intends to keep the spark alive! From their trademark Syrah-Grenache blend ‘Quintessence’ through to the fresh and complex Terrasses Rosé, we’re confident you will enjoy these wines as much as we do.

Château Pesquié is one of the great estates of the Ventoux, and thanks to the indefatigable efforts of Frédéric Chaudière, the wines are widely distributed around the globe. For many consumers, this will be the entry point to Ventoux, so it’s important that the wines represent the region well—thankfully, they do.

A welcome return to form, the 2018 Ventoux Terrasses is a floral, herbal and red-fruited version of this unoaked cuvée. It’s medium to full-bodied, with ample concentration, velvety tannins and lovely hints of tea and spice on the long finish. It should drink well through 2024 or so.
